The inspiration for the formation of the New Jersey Volunteer Fire Chief’s Association grew out of the fact of the fine appearance made in Newark, New Jersey on May 17, 1911, when the Ex-Chiefs paraded under the auspices of the New Jersey State Exempt Firemen’s Association.

The object of the association is to meet at intervals and discuss topics related to the extinguishment of fire to prevent loss of life, and/or destruction of property and the environment; discuss other matters that may be of interest to the members as well as beneficial to the general welfare of the community and the same time to increase the social standing of the members of the association and participate in parades.
